RuneScape, a wildly popular yet strangely understated MMO over the years have made a new announcement: RuneScape 3 is coming. Now the “3” may be a little bit confusing, as there was in fact a RuneScape “2”, but rather than being a complete standalone RuneScape 2 served as a huge overhaul of the original RuneScape. In that sense, RuneScape 3 may possibly drop its numerical appendage as well once it goes live as once again the developers Jagex have stated that rather than having RuneScape 3 being a complete standalone title, it will once again bring in a truckload of overhauls to the current game.
Due to this, current players may use their existing avatars and RuneScape accounts and jump directly into RuneScape 3 when it’s released. However, they’ll be greeted with a new HTML3 and WebGL technology that will give the graphics a big kick in the butt, making them sharper, viewing distances further, and the world more colorful. Not only that, but Jagex touted that RuneScape 3 will also come with a new audio suite, orchestrated score, fully customizable interface, and a new set of camera controls.
RuneScape and RuneScape 3 is free to play, and browser based. You can check out what the game is like currently at their website, here. RuneScape 3 has a shipping date of later this year.
